Published 3 months ago • 1 min read

Hello lovers!

We've been busy writing and releasing new songs and videos! We hope you don't mind. :)

If you don't have a Valentine, put on some Mayberry Wine and dance around with your bad self. Or come see us play MadLife on Feb. 13! Tickets available here.

We just released Traceless this weekend and couldn't wait to share it with you. In joy!

The story behind Traceless

By Steven Glude

Where did the idea for Traceless come from?

Believe it or not, sacred 13th-century poetry. I get a lot of lyrical inspiration from books I read.

What inspired the lyrics?

One of my favorite Rumi poems begins with this passage:

My place is the Placeless,
My trace is the Traceless,
‘Tis neither body nor soul,
For I belong to the soul of the Beloved.
I have put duality away,
I have seen that the two worlds are one;
One I seek, One I know, One I see, One I call.

I really felt what Rumi was saying about flowing and how taking a random path doesn’t leave a trail:

My place is placeless
My path is traceless.
Open up the door to body and soul.
You already know how to flow

What’s Traceless about?

I wrote this during a time when I wanted to do things differently. It’s about surrender in a lot of ways—surrendering to love and letting love drive you instead of trying to control it. That’s why the air breathes you, the song sings you. For example,

If I conceived a poem, would it read you out loud when you’re all alone?

How the song came together

The reality is Traceless is just four chords—A, E, D, and B—albeit my versions of them, which means there are 6s and 9s thrown in.

But it came together very quickly. I guess you could say this song sang me.

Fun fact about Traceless

Traceless is one of the first Rumi-inspired pieces I wrote. It was part of a trio of new songs I sent to Kristi soon after we met that included Must Be Love, which was also inspired by Rumi, and Stay.

Hello lovers! It's so crazy that it's only been a year and a half since Steven and I started writing songs together because we're quickly approaching the 100-song mark. Because we have so much music to share, we've been looking for places where we can share more than a handful of songs. We had a great time playing Suburban Tap, Waller's Coffee Shop and the private DC9 event over the past few weeks. Up next: May 19 from 2-5pm: Love Your Neighbor - Sautee, GA (FREE) We're the featured...

Hello lovers! Here’s to the April showers and May flowers that are stirring the strings of our heart. We hope you’re blooming, too! Here’s some updates on recent shows and a couple of opportunities you’ll have to see us in the next few weeks. Fairy Tales at Waller’s Coffee Shop We were fools for love on April 1st, when we played a set at the legendary Waller’s Coffee Shop in Decatur. What a cool listening room. It was fun to see so many smiling faces. Because it was April Fool’s Day, we...

Hello lovers! We had a big week last week! On February 13, we did our professional gig at MadLife in Woodstock, entertaining about 115 people with our love songs. We also submitted a video of LAVENDER for NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest (a dream of ours). If you listen closely, you’ll notice some jingly percussion right before the bridge. No, that’s not bells, it's Buba Jin, one of five dogs not so patiently watching us play. He felt the urge to shake himself up and get closer to the love. If you...
